Before forming your opinions against this statement, remember I am not talking about blockchain technology which is under all the cryptocurrencies including bitcoin. Blockchain technology is an implementation-based technology and is already being implemented in many of the fields successfully.
Another problem is with the power consumption with the minting of new coins and the all in all proof of work system which is currently being countered with the Proof of stake mechanism and is somewhat being controlled but, the problem here lies with bitcoin as the bitcoin is hardcoded to use the proof of work mechanism.
This problem of cryptocurrency being treated as an asset class instead of a currency is somewhat being used by big investors and hedge fund managers to make money from it by using it as a trading instrument with huge returns.
