Porinju Veliyath is an investor, trader, and fund manager. He manages his own funds and has his own asset management firm known as Equity intelligence Pvt limited. Born in the year 1962 Veliyath belongs from a very humble background from the village named Chalakudy village located near the city of Kochi, Kerala.
He was not at all in the plans of being a fund manager or even enter the world of stock markets as he completed his formal education from the Govt. law college and earned a graduate degree in the field of law (LLB). After completing his graduation, he started his career in Kotak securities as a floor trader, according to Wikipedia “A floor trader is a member of a stock or commodities exchange who trades on the floor of that exchange for his or her own account. The floor trader must abide by trading rules similar to those of the exchange specialists who trade on behalf of others.” After working for a period of around four years He moved on to Parag Parikh securities and worked there as a Research analyst and fund manager for almost five years.
On and after grabbing a foot in the stock market and after building his skill in the field of trading from the places he worked at for almost around 9 years in total, he went back to Kochi and started trading and practicing more and also built a stable client base after which in December 2002 he started his own fund management and asset management firm and named it Equity intelligence.
